Spices in the Kitchen & Their Benefits

TURMERIC
Turmeric is  an orange  color spice which adds flavor to Indian dishes. This spice is a member of ginger family. Turmeric helps in treating arthritis, heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhea, intestinal gas and loss of appetite. Turmeric is also used as a topical treatment for issues like skin inflammation, infected wounds and ringworm.

BLACK PEPPER
This Spice has most ancient roots in India however it is now used in many cuisines worldwide, often paired with salt. Black pepper aids in digestion, congestion, soothing an upset stomach and is helpful in stopping bleeding on cuts when applied topically.

CARDAMOM
This spice is used in Indian food as well as in Indian chai to add flavor. To get full benefits of this spice you have to break the outer shell of the spice. It can be used for digestive problems including bloating, gas, heartburn and loss of appetite. It can even treat bad breath and is commonly used as an after-meal breath freshener. It is used for the prevention of skin cancer as well.

CLOVE
This tiny spice which looks like a flower is used in various cuisine worldwide. In cosmetic uses, clove is found in toothpastes, soaps and perfumes. Indian healers have used it in oils, flower buds, and its stems form part of array of medicine.

CINNAMON
This bark-like spice originated from Sri Lanka. This helps in regulating type 2 diabetes. This spice is also used to treat PCOS, Amenorrhea in females.
